PONDER THIS!
Many people try to prove how religious, holy or spiritual they are by some outward show of devotion or act of worship. Some make it a point to quote scriptures in an attempt to impress persons with how knowledgeable of the Bible they are. Others wear crosses and even make a show of “speaking in tongues” to prove their spirituality. Yet, Jesus teaches us that none of these prove we belong to Him.
Jesus is very clear as to what the Christian badge of identification is. It is not how much we shout, sing, praise or know. What identifies us as children of God is the love we show. Love is our badge of identification. Exemplifying all the attributes of love, such as, forgiveness, compassion, mercy, kindness, long-suffering, gentleness, sacrifice and acceptance are how people will know that we are disciples of Christ.
1. When people witness your life do, they see the identifying qualities that declare you belong to Jesus?
2. If accused and placed on trial before a judge and jurors, would the court be able to convict you, beyond a shadow of doubt, of being a disciple of Christ because of the love you give to others?
3. Singing, shouting and all the outward religious and spiritual demonstrations of Christianity are good, but do those who are closes to you see the distinguishing marks of a Christ-like life because they witness your love for them and others?
4. A person who is a true follower of Christ does not turn love on and off like a light. A true follower wears his or her love badge at all times. Do you wear and keep on YOUR BADGE OF IDENTIFICATION?
