"A sound heart is life to the body, But envy is rottenness to the bones." (Proverbs 14:30, NKJV)
You know, all of us face the temptation to be envious of others who seem to progress and prosper in the area of life in which we also operate. Every one of us is tempted at times to envy or be jealous of others who seem to excel in those areas of life that we desire to excel. Yet, we must remember what Solomon tells us in this text about envy, it "is rottenness to the bones."
Rather than being envious of others, we should celebrate them and do the best we can in all we do. In the eyes of God we are not held accountable for reaching someone else's goals. We are only accountable for doing the best we can do with the resources God has given us.
Just be the best you can be. Do the best that you can do in everything you are called to do. Take advantage of every opportunity and every resource you have to do and be the best you you can be. Remember, your best is your best. No one can ever hold anything against you or fault you in any way if you do your best. Neither should you. Do not waste your time looking in your neighbors yard in envy of his or her grass. YOU JUST DO YOU!
