"And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan. So Jesus answered and said, “Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine? Were there not any found who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?” (Luke 17:15-18, NKJV)

The scripture here gives us the account of Jesus healing ten men who suffered with the very devastating decease of leprosy. As they followed the instructions of Jesus to go show themselves to the priest, who, according to the law would verify and validate their healing, all ten men were healed. Yet only one returned to give Glory and thanks to God. Upon the return and the praise of the one, Jesus asked a very penetrating question, "where are the nine?"
Each year, we in America celebrate a day we call Thanksgiving Day. Thanksgiving Day is a time to reflect and give thanks to God for all His many benefits in our lives. Thanksgiving means so much to so many. For some, it is simply another day off work. For others, it is a time to gather together with friends and family to enjoy the reunion and fellowship. For many it is a time for eating. Large meals and delightful deserts are in abundance on Thanksgiving Day.
1. What does this time of the year really mean to you?
2. Will you be like the nine, who received the blessings of the Lord and went about their business without giving thanks?
3. Are you like the one in the scripture who returned and gave thanks for what the Savior had done for him?
Today will you be like those who go from day to day without acknowledging the blessings and the favor of God in your life? Or will you rejoice in the Lord? Will you give thanks to the Lord? Will you glory in the Lord? Will you be like the nine, or WILL YOU BE THE ONE?
