SURRENDER

“. . . Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done." (Luke 22:42 NJKV)

When I woke early one morning, this was the first word that came to me when I opened my eyes, "Surrender!" As I meditated on that word for a bit, the words of Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane were brought into my spirit, "not my will, but yours be done.” The Lord was and is saying to me, and indeed to all of us, that we must live, not just today, but every day, a life surrendered to Him.

Surrender is not easy. It requires complete trust. There is a difference between surrender and submission. One can submit bodily but not emotionally, intellectually or spiritually. The African slaves learn to submit to their masters, but they never surrendered. To surrender is to put all you are and all you have into the hands of the one you are surrendering to. To surrender to God means you put all of your life and living into His hands, and trust that He will take care of you.

If you haven’t already, let today begin your life's journey of surrender. Surrender your troubles, your concerns and your cares. Surrender your will, your way and your wishes. Do not be held captive to the mistakes of your past, but surrender your past, your present and your future. Trust God with your all. He will take care of you. SURRENDER!
