"And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God:" (Deuteronomy 28:2, NKJV)
PONDER THIS!
Moses in this verse encourages and challenges the children of Israel to obey all the commands of God. In doing so, God promises that they will thereby experience the blessings of God “overtaking” them. That promise is true for us today.
Can you imagine that? What an experience that would be! To not be able to out run or elude the blessings of God. To be so blessed that blessings just keep coming. Is that possible? The answer is an emphatic, YES! Yes, it is possible to be overtaken by God's blessings. Yet like many of God's promises, this promise too is conditional.
Obedience is the condition we all must meet to experience blessings that overtake us. We are promised that if we are obedient, maintain our faith and be faithful to God and His Word, we will experience the overtaking blessings of God in our lives.
1. Are you living your life so that you can meet the requirements of “overtaking” blessings?
2. What area of your life have you not submitted to God that may be hindering blessings from overtaking you?
3. Again I would ask. Can you imagine living a life where blessings come so readily until you can’t outrun them?
God wants to bless you. He wants to proclaim His favor over your life. Yet, the blessings of God are contingent upon your doing as God commands. The promises of God are true. If you live your life according to His word, you will not cease to be OVERTAKEN BY BLESSINGS!
