OVERLOOK IT AND LET IT GO

“The discretion of a man makes him slow to anger, And his glory is to overlook a transgression.”(Proverbs 19:11, NKJV)

PONDER THIS!

The book of Proverbs is known for its wonderful wisdom sayings. Solomon, the son of David and king of Israel, is attributed to writing most of the wise sayings found in this book. This one in chapter nineteen, verse eleven is one of my favorite “go to” verses when the temptation to become angry arises.

In this verse, Solomon simply wants to remind us that everything is not worth worrying about and arguing over. Sometimes it’s best to just ignore certain comments, gestures, attitudes and actions of others.

1. Have you ever met anyone who just wanted to argue and complain about any and everything?

2. Are you one who thinks you must respond to everything you disapprove of?

3. Are you a quick tempered person? Do you get angry easily?

When dealing with cantankerous individuals Solomon lets us know the glory of a man or woman is to overlook their complaints and arguments. Even if persons should say something offensive to or about you, sometimes it is best to just ignore it. Why allow insignificant, meaningless chatter drive your blood pressure up and stress you out? Exercise wisdom and restraint and look beyond the offense. Sometimes it’s best just to OVERLOOK IT AND LET IT GO!
