“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion,
seeking whom he may devour.” (I Peter 5:8, NKJV)
You do know that you have an adversary don’t you? We all have a common enemy. A common foe. He is the hater of all humanity. The Bible calls him the devil or Satan. He has one agenda, he wants to steal from you, kill you and destroy you.
Though he is your enemy you do not have to be distressed or depressed about him. He has
already been defeated. Jesus did so when He died for your sins and was resurrected for your
justification. PRAISE THE LORD! Yet, Peter tells us that our enemy is still roaring like a lion
and trying to devour us. What we must remember is that lions do not roar when they are eating.
The purpose of the lions roar is to scare the prey into a panic. It is that panic that causes the prey to make foolish mistakes by reacting in fear. The fear can cause the prey to actually run right into the grips of the lion.
Do not let the roaring of your enemy frighten you into making any sudden moves. Remember, “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind,” (2 Timothy 1:7). Never make any decision under pressure or out of fear. In so doing, most of the time, you will make the wrong decision and regret it in the end. When you hear the roaring of the enemy just stay calm, remember that he has already been defeated and tell yourself, “I AM NOT AFRAID OF THE ROARING.”
