“And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?” (Mark 4:37&38, KJV)
PONDER THIS!
Most of us know the account of Jesus calming the storm while on the ship with the disciples. We have heard how He brought calm to a troubled situation by merely uttering three words, “Peace, be Still.” And the Bible says the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
In the month of February of the year 2014, we here where I live in Georgia, experienced what the meteorologist called an “epic” ice storm. All across the south east schools and businesses were closed. City, state and federal offices were shut down. Many people suffered greatly, some without heat and electricity for many days. Yet, the good news is that we had been warned and prepared for this storm in advance.
1. Natural storms, for the most part, can be prepared for. They come with advanced warnings. Yet do you know or have you experienced any emotional and spiritual storms that arose without any warning?
2. Have you experience the sudden death of a loved one, the unexpected loss of a job, that cancer diagnosis, heart attack or stroke? All of these and others can arise, taking you by surprise, creating extreme turbulence in your life.
3. Whenever or however any storm arises in your life just remember that Jesus, our Lord and savior, calmed the storm for the disciples and even today, HE’S STILL CALMING STORMS.
