GOOD FRIDAY
“So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.” (John 19:30, NKJV)

PONDER THIS!
On the day we call Good Friday, almost two thousand years ago, our Lord and savior uttered these words while hanging on a cross on Mount Calvary, “IT IS FINISHED.” These words signified, not a defeat, but a victory. Jesus in this one statement, announced to the world, that He had fulfilled His mission and finished His ministry on the earth. In this statement, He declares that humanities salvation and reconciliation to God was now secured for all those who would accept Him as their Lord and Savior.
1. Today is a day for all of us to meditate on why it is called “Good Friday.” Good, not because it is Friday, but good because of the suffering, sacrifice, and salvation our Savior wrought on our behalf.
2. Today is “Good Friday” because in all the bad that humanity has done and continues to do, Jesus still bore our sins and carried our sorrows.
3. Today is “Good Friday” because He died so that we might live.
4. Today is “Good Friday”because we can declare our salvation in Jesus and we do not have to be held in captivity to guilt, shame, regret of defeat for our past sins.
Praise God for Jesus and the declaration He made on the cross, “It is finished” for in that declaration He made that Friday a GOOD FRIDAY!
