FREE INDEED - (Taken from my book, MY WEEKDAY WORD)

“Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.” (John 8:36, NKJV)

PONDER THIS!

July 4th in America is the day we celebrate Independence Day. Independence Day is the day we in America celebrate the birth of our nation. The day the American patriarchs declared independence from British rule by the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. On that day, the United States of America was born.

Yet, true freedom was not granted, July 4, 1776. True freedom was granted to all the weekend that Jesus, the Savior of the world, died and was resurrected. We became and become truly free when we individually accept Jesus as our Savior and Lord. America’s independence and birth took place July 4, 1776. Our independence and birth takes place the moment we acknowledge Jesus as our Lord and Savior.

As we know from history, when America declared its independence from British rule, not all who lived in the thirteen colonies were free. Native Americans were being slaughter, displaced and viciously treated. Africans, who were brought to this land, were enslaved, mutilated, raped and considered less than Human. Not all who lived in America were free. But in Christ Jesus, “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you (we) are all one in Christ Jesus.” PRAISE THE LORD!

Many celebrations take place on Independence Day. Firework shows are displayed from city to city. Parades, cookouts and 4th of July parties all celebrating the independence of a nation. Yet, we who are in Christ Jesus can celebrate, not just on July 4th, but every day of our lives, because those who are in Christ Jesus are FREE INDEED!
