DO NOT NEGLECT THE GIFT

“Do not neglect the gift that is in you . . .” (I Timothy 4:14, NKJV)

PONDER THIS!

The Apostle Paul in this verse reminds his spiritual son Timothy that he has an obligation to use the gift God gave him for God’s glory.

Yesterday I reminded you that YOU ARE IMPORTANT. In that devotional message, I shared that every child of God in Christ Jesus has at least one spiritual gift. The gifts are given “that the Kingdom of God would spread throughout the world and the Body of Christ would be edified.” You are important because the body of Christ needs you to use your gift for its edification.

As Paul informs Timothy, God’s word of us today is that we must not “neglect the gift.” Your gift was given that you would bless the lives of others as well as yourself. God has given each one of us a spiritual gift and we are required to use it for God’s glory. To not use your gift or to use it for any reason other than to glorify God and edify God’s people is to neglect or misuse what God has given.

1. Are you using the gift(s) that have been entrusted to you to bless others?

2. Do you know what your gift(s) are?

3. If you do not know what your gift is, seek God about it. Talk to others in the Body of Christ who can give you wise counsel to help you discover your gift.

4. Do you understand how important you are and how important it is for you to use your gift(s) to assist others?

Do not neglect your gift. Do not let other people, your busy schedule or fear keep you from using what God has given you. Use what you have been given to glorify Him. Your gift is a blessing to others and God’s blessing to you. Do not be guilty of passing up your blessing or robing someone of the opportunity to be blessed by you. DO NOT NEGLECT THE GIFT!
