"Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart." (Luke 18:1, NKJV)
The writer of the book of Luke gives commentary of why Jesus began the proceeding parable about prayer. Luke informs us that Jesus spoke these parables to remind us that we ought always to pray.
We hear it stated in church all the time, “there is power in prayer.” Three of the many reasons why prayer has power for the believer are, first, in prayer we are acknowledging God as sovereign of our lives. Prayer says to God that we know He is the ruler and head of our lives. Secondly, we are acknowledging God as the source, strength, and guide of our lives. Prayer says to God, “I am relying completely on You for my well being and without You I can do nothing.” Lastly, in prayer we seek to know the will of God so that we might live our lives honoring Him by glorifying Him in our every day living. Those of us who are children of God know that prayer is not an option. In these most challenging times prayer is a necessity.
Therefore, as we go through our day, schedules may be hectic and emergencies may arise. There will be needs that must be met. There are duties and task that must be done.Yet, in all of the activities of the day, do not forget the admonition of Luke, ALWAYS PRAY.The power to do all the things that must be done will be granted when you pray.ALWAYS PRAY!
