A FRIEND AND A SISTER OR BROTHER

“A friend loves at all times, And a brother is born for adversity.” (Proverbs 17:17, NKJV)

The word “friend” is thrown around by many of us as if almost everyone we know is our friend. Yet, if we really are honest with ourselves, true friends are rare and hard to find. A person who is a real brother or sister is a blessing from God. Sometimes, even our own biological family, if we will admit it, cannot be counted on or called friends. Again, true friendship is a blessing from the Lord.

The real question is, can anyone call you “friend?” Have you proven yourself to be a brother or sister to someone who was going through an adverse situation? True friendship is welcomed in the good times, but it is proven in the tough times. In fact, adversity is when you really find out who your friends are.

The scripture reminds us, “A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.” Can others count on you in times of adversity? Do you love “at all times” or only when you can get what you want from others? Again, the real question is, are you A FRIEND AND A SISTER OR BROTHER?
