“Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?” (Matthew 6:26, NKJV)
These are the words of Jesus as he sits with a multitude of very common, some poor, some sick, some needy, mostly very ordinary people. Jesus reminds these people, who the society at that time considered nobodies and nothings, that they have value in the eyes of God. He uses the birds to show that if God loves and takes care of them, He will surely take care of His children who are of more value than the birds.
Let me remind you of the words of Jesus for you today. The birds never worry about where their next meal is coming from. They do not take blood pressure medication due to stress or anxiety. The birds do not have panic attacks, afraid of what tomorrow will hold. God takes care of them, and you must know that God will take care of you.
Live your life with this assurance, God will take care of you. Every time you hear a bird singing, see one flying by or sitting on a ledge, every time you see a bird pecking for food, building or sitting in a nest, know that your Heavenly Father loves and cares for you. Remind yourself that whatever you need, God will supply it, because you are MORE VALUABLE THAN A BIRD!
