HIGHER ASPIRATIONS

"If then you were raised with Christ, SEEK THOSE THINGS WHICH ARE ABOVE, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. SET YOUR MIND ON THINGS ABOVE, not on things on the earth." (Colossians 3:1-2, NKJV)

The Apostle Paul in these two verses admonishes all Christians to SEEK and SET our minds on things ABOVE. He informs us that we should not waste our time thinking low, common, temporal thoughts. Paul is, in essence, telling us that we need to have "higher aspirations" than the rest of the world.

If we are to possess and walk in all the blessings God has for us, we are going to have to SEEK and SET our minds on high things. Too often, we want the "HIGH" things of God while having “LOW” and ”SMALL” mindsets. Only those who "look" up and "think" up, "go" up. In order to have more, you must want more, and strive for more.

Make a covenant with yourself that beginning today you are not going to waste your time thinking small or hanging out with small-minded people. Be assured, if you are with people who don’t want anything for themselves, they will not want you to want anything for yourself. Remember, misery loves company. Do not give in to the temptation to stay low or think small. "SET" your sights on things above the common, mundane and normal. "SEEK" those things that will edify, promote, and elevate you. And if the small minded haters challenge you and ask you "what makes you think you can have all of that," you just remind them, “It's because I have ‘HIGHER ASPIRATIONS.’”
